Optimizer, in the defined optimisation outline, optimises the solution in the time available. For that, it offers diverse algorithms (that can be chosen and parameterised) , and most important, an heuristic that can only be found in Optimizer and in which years of R+D have been invested.

Anyone that has faced planning, design or reengineering problems using simulation models knows that there?s often very little time available to find the best solution. And, as the problems (and thus the models) are generally very complex, most of the time is invested on developing and calibrating the model- even though, WITNESS is very powerful and easy to use- to the detriment of the time required to do an adequate experimentation or a suitable optimisation.

Easy to use

Optimizer is an easy to use analysis tool. It has a tabular format display and modern graphs. As the algorithms are operating, a variety of reports are being produced. Those reports include charts and graphs of the results - all of them can be printed at once or copied in the briefcase and attached to other applications to create reports. The reports contain the combination of the entrance factors, the objective result and the variance, reliability charts and graphs for replication passing.

Other options that make this module even more powerful and easy to use include:

  • "impulse variables" to suggest some good possible combinations to the algorithm.
  • the possibility of returning a selected combination of factors to the Model, to proceed in more detail with the simulation and analysis, using the mentioned combination.
